Privacy Policy, Legal and FAQs
I am unable to work with a child or family who is involved in an open or pending investigation or court case. If during the course of treatment your child becomes involved in an open court case, it may be necessary for me to refer you to another professional such as a forensic psychologist. I do not work with families in which there is an ongoing legal issue such as abuse allegations or a pending divorce. I do not do court ordered evaluations.

Sensitive subject matter may be discussed, and it is important to have a safe and confidential place to speak freely. I will not share your information without your written permission. Should you want me to share information with someone such as your child's school counselor or pediatrician, I am happy to do so as long as I have your written permission.
Please note that state law and professional ethical guidelines require psychologists to maintain confidentiality except in the following situations:
- I have reason to suspect the client is seriously in danger of harming her/himself or has threatened to harm another person
- suspected present or past abuse or neglect of children, adults, and elders (based on information provided by the client or collateral sources).
Child Protection Services and/or law enforcement may be contacted in these situations.

What if I am motivated to improve my parenting, but my spouse/partner is not?
Parent coaching works best when both parents/partners are on board, but when this is not the case, it can still be helpful. Dr. Cooper has extensive experience helping couples who are struggling to be consistent in their parenting.
What makes seeing Dr. Cooper different from other providers?
Dr. Cooper intentionally limits the number of clients that she works with to ensure that she is providing excellent, concierge-like care to each client. She works collaboratively with families to develop personalized treatment plans which reflect the uniqueness of each client. This individualized care is rooted in evidence-based methods and delivered in a safe and supportive environment. She regularly collaborates with other important adults in kids and teens lives such as teachers, school counselors, pediatricians, and psychiatrists.
I want to be seen for therapy, but I'm an adult. Does Dr. Cooper see adult clients?
Yes! Although Dr. Cooper has specialized training and expertise treating children and teens, she has also received generalized training and has experience treating adults as well. A phone consultation will help determine if she is a good fit for your needs, and if not she can assist by providing appropriate referrals.
